December 12th Vote 100 Women and prisons. Portcullis House, London. 6pm
When I started writing Bad Girls a few years ago I never imagined I would take part in a panel discussion at Portcullis House during Vote 100, Parliament’s year long celebration of the 1918 Representation of the People Act. I shared the stage with Baroness Jean Corston, author of the groundbreaking Corston Report of 2007, and Victoria Prentis MP. The Corston report provided a blueprint for the future of women in prison – and was sparked by a visit to Holloway. It needs to be put into practice.
